Biography: Hong Seo Beom is a South Korean singer-songwriter. He graduated from Chungam High School and later obtained a bachelor's degree in Agricultural and Livestock Industry and a master's degree in Agricultural Engineering, both from Konkuk University, and another master's degree in Popular Culture from Sungkyunkwan University. His parents escaped from North Korea and had no further contact with the rest of the family, so they had to survive by working several part-time jobs to sustain their 6 children. He made his debut in the 1980 TBC Youth Song Festival as part of the band Oxen 80 and ended up winning some money to help his family. After he was discharged from his mandatory military service in 1984, the band's 2nd album won the Best Lyrics category at the KBS Music Awards for the songs "Prayer of Poor Lovers" and "I Can't Get Out of Control". Unfortunately, the 3rd album was involved in a protest and was banned from being released and the band eventually disbanded in 1987. In 1989, released his 1st solo album and "I Didn't Want Love From You" received generally positive reviews. One year later, he was scheduled to release "My Love To You" with singer Jang Pil Soon, but he had met singer Jo Gap Kyung earlier and fell in love with her, so he decided to re-record the song. Despite the 9-year age difference, they got married in 1994 and the couple has 3 children. He is now more focused on variety shows than in singing. (Source: Korean = Namu Wiki)
